Kimmy Ross
Tattoo Artist
Hey! My name is Kimmy, and I’ve been doing art in some form or another for my entire life. I started at a young age, inspired by the creativity in my dad, who got me involved in local artistry very early at the Elkhart Art League. I began my journey leaning more into 3D arts, with a love for pottery and sculpting, that developed into a cake decorating hobby. This led me to baking and pastry school, and a career working with molding chocolates and fondant. Working alone making tiny figures in the kitchen wasn’t quite for me in the end long term though. My artistic journey continued into art education, hoping to spread the love and passion for free expression, where I worked as a Middle School Art teacher for 2 rewarding years. I still hadn’t quite found where my personal passion could shine though, until I got my first tattoo myself. The tattoo industry was completely foreign to me until I was 24, and it was a level of self expression that I hadn’t experienced before. Tattoos to me are the ultimate form of subjective art. Anyone can get anything that they want, maybe it’s something with heavy sentimental meaning in your life, maybe it’s your favorite video game character, whatever the subject, you get to walk and wear it forever as a living canvas of the art you personally chose, and I think that’s beautiful. I love being able to collaborate with clients to bring their ideas to life, to include all of the tiny details and meaning in a piece. I’m a huge lover of video games and anime, so I’m personally huge on including favorite little references in my work. I prefer to work with color and bold lines and I love working in neotraditional and illustrative styles. Getting to meet and know so many people, and being able to make people in general more confident and comfortable in their skin, makes tattooing truly the most rewarding artistic career and I’m excited to see where it takes me
